Cashed Out ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Cashed Out mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. You may also use the App anonymously without providing an email address.
  • Profile information: Display name, quit date, gambling type preferences, and average weekly spend (all optional).
  • Check-in data: Daily mood, urge intensity, and gambling status entries you submit through the check-in feature.
  • Community content: Posts, comments, and votes you submit to the community feed.
  • AI conversations: Messages you send to Marcus, our AI recovery companion, to provide personalized support.
  • Challenge progress: Your progress through the 30-day quit challenge, including completed missions and daily status.
  • Site blocker preferences: Your selected gambling site categories and any custom domains you add to the blocker.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device type and operating system version, used solely to ensure the App functions correctly on your device.
  • Usage data: We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not collect browsing history, location data, or advertising identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality
  • Track your bet-free streak, money saved, and recovery milestones
  • Power the Marcus AI companion with context from your conversations to provide personalized recovery support
  • Display your community posts and profile to other users (using your chosen display name only)
  • Moderate community content for safety and guideline compliance
  • Send transactional emails related to your account (e.g., password reset)

3. AI-Powered Features

The App includes Marcus, an AI recovery companion powered by third-party artificial intelligence services. When you interact with Marcus:

  • Your messages are sent to Anthropic (Claude API) for processing and response generation.
  • Conversation context is stored with mem0, a memory service, so Marcus can remember your story across sessions and provide continuity of support.
  • Your AI conversations are private and are never shared with other users, used for advertising, or sold to third parties.
  • Marcus is an AI tool, not a licensed therapist or medical professional. Responses are generated by artificial intelligence and should not be considered medical advice.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

  • Supabase: Authentication, database storage, and serverless functions. Your data is stored in PostgreSQL databases with row-level security policies. Supabase Privacy Policy
  • Anthropic: AI language model (Claude) for the Marcus companion feature. Anthropic Privacy Policy

  • Expo / EAS: App build and update infrastructure. Expo does not receive or process your personal data. Expo Privacy Policy

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or data brokers.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase-managed infrastructure hosted in the United States. We implement the following security measures:

  • All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS).
  • Database access is protected by row-level security (RLS) policies, ensuring users can only access their own data.
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you with the App's services. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently and immediately removed from our systems, including:

  • Profile information and account credentials
  • Check-in history and challenge progress
  • Community posts, comments, and votes
  • AI conversation history and memory
  • Site blocker preferences

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen within the App. Account deletion is permanent and immediate. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. This includes all personal information, recovery data, community contributions, and AI conversation history.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: With the third-party services listed in Section 4, solely to operate the App's features.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public, including enforcing our Terms of Service.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (available directly in the App via Settings).
  • Right to know: Request information about what categories of data we collect and how we use it.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the categories of sources, the business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent (provided when you create an account and use the App) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the App. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
